GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida fruit and vegetable farmers who use mulch to discourage nutsedge may find a bigger payoff if they bet on black – black plastic mulch, that is.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Paul Willis, executive assistant to Jimmy Cheek, the University of Florida’s senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources, has been honored for his long-term service to the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association.
Willis was presented with the Founders Distinguished Service Award at the NAADA annual conference June 14-17 in Kona, Hawaii. The award recognizes an individual who has made substantial contributions to the association. (more …)
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s environmental horticulture professionals have a good friend in Jimmy Cheek, the University of Florida’s senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources, and now they’re making it official.
June 13, Cheek will receive the Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association’s Friend of the Industry Award, as will Rep. Marty Bowen, speaker pro tempore of Florida’s House of Representatives. The awards will be presented at the FNGLA convention in Palm Beach. (more …)
